I have been exploring different ways to have casual video conversations with people I do not already know. I specifically want something focused on one person at a time rather than rooms where many users are talking together. The main reason is that I find direct conversations much easier to follow and more interesting.
TalkRand came up during my search, so I am interested in hearing from people who have experience with it. I am not only looking for opinions about one platform though. I would like to understand what makes a random video chat service genuinely useful for regular users.
For anyone who has used 1v1 video chat, how often do you actually get matched with someone who wants to talk rather than immediately leaving? Does the matching system normally give you enough variety, or do you repeatedly encounter similar types of users?
I am also interested in the balance between privacy and convenience. Is it better when a platform keeps the signup process simple, or do additional account features make the overall experience safer?
How does TalkRand compare when it comes to finding people for normal conversations? Are there useful moderation features that help reduce unwanted behavior?
Another question I have concerns conversation quality. When you use 1v1 video chat, do you prefer having some information about the other person before accepting the match, or does that take away from the randomness?
I would also like to know whether users generally consider TalkRand active enough to find new conversations without waiting for long periods.
If you have experience with random video chat platforms, what feature would you consider essential before recommending one to another person?
