3D printing involves various principal procedures grouped by the material and technique used to produce items. The main types of 3D printing processes are FDM, which uses solid thread (filaments) as material, SLA/DLP (resin printers), SLS/MJF (which operate with powder beds), and the various metal 3D printing methods like DMLS or SLM. All in all, each method constructs objects one by one, but by melting plastic, irradiating liquid resin with UV light, or heating up a powder through some sort of laser. These differences in the methods play a big role in how durable, exact, and expensive the finished part will be, which means that each process finds its best niche in certain usage, like making models, mass production, or fine modeling work.
