Hi everyone,

I’ve been brainstorming ways to make bard names more impactful in my D&D sessions. Do you prefer bard names that are punny, serious, or tied to character backstory? I’d love tips for making bard names memorable and enhancing the storytelling experience. Any examples of bard names that really “stick” in campaigns would be amazing. Sharing your insights on bard names would help me a lot.

For me, the bard names that really stick are the ones tied to the character’s backstory, with just a hint of wordplay. Fully punny names can be fun, but they tend to work best in short or lighthearted campaigns. In longer stories, a mostly serious name with a subtle joke hidden inside feels more satisfying.
